Functional Skills Maths

Through EDLounge providing Functional Skills Maths and English online content, lessons and assessment tasks it enables a vast range of students (whether off-site / on-site / foundation / vocational or on alternative curriculum) to provide a single ladder of achievement in Maths and English.

The Maths and English Functional Skills modules have been designed for those students who are underachieving, de-motivated, foundation and following an alternative curriculum. They have been created in response to employers' perceptions that many young people and adults are not achieving a firm enough grounding in the basics of Maths and English. We have therefore created numerous lessons for each criteria within the Functional Maths and English (Entry, Level 1 and Level 2) specifications, key skills and key objectives for the foundation learner.

Accreditations and points gain from the Functional Skills in Maths and English is:

  • Level 1 = 12.5 points
  • Level 2 = 23 points
  • Entry 3 = 7 points
  • Entry 2 = 6 points
  • Entry 1 = 5 points

Please note, a C grade is worth 40 points and an A is worth 58 points. We have an extensive range of lessons, assessment tasks and sessions for Functional Skills in Maths and English, so that both 45 hour courses can run alongside their GCSEs

The Functional Skills Maths and English lessons will enable you to also see comparisons between core, foundation and vocational learning to boost points (for school stats) and to gain parts of GCSE's for alternative curriculum students CVs, records of achievements and interviews. It therefore gives recognition to those doing it.


Functional Skills English

We have also been asked by several Headteachers and members of SLT in the schools that have EDLounge over the past 12 months, to produce lessons and assessment sessions for Functional Skills in Maths and English at Entry Level.

Level 1 and Level 2.

Within EDlounge, the students can work individually through the Functional Skills topics in their own time to gain enough experience, knowledge and understanding in order to learn and prepare themselves for examination.

Students' learning pathways are easily programmed, so that every aspect of the students work is recorded, monitored and tracked.

Functional Skills are practical skills that equip learners with the necessary knowledge and understanding to use and apply English and Maths in everyday life, so they can get the most out of work and education. Throughout our lessons we have provided lesson content, tasks, file extensions and assessment areas so that the students can constantly develop their knowledge and understanding within the topics concerned.

Alongside our qualifications on offer, we have a range of GCSE specific lessons for Maths, English and Science that can help you prepare your students for their GCSE exams and therefore addressing the Wolf Report (2011)
